The Impact of Artificial Intelligence

This week in ISM I researched the impact of Artificial Intelligence on the field of Oncology. I discovered some new terminology and learned the differences between Artificial Intelligence (AI), machine learning and deep learning. Through my research I discovered that AI refers to a broad range of computational methods that mimic human intelligence, while Machine learning is a subfield of AI that relies on statistical methods to detect hidden patterns within a dataset. Furthermore I learned new terminology such as deep learning, which is a subfield of machine learning that harnesses the power of multilayered networks. From my article I learned about deep learning essentials, and Artificial intelligence for cancer images, geonomics, and precision medicine. One interesting fact I I learned was that the interpretation of mammograms for breast cancer screening AUC for AI is .840 compared to .814 for physicians. It was intriguing to find out that AI can give a more precise examination. Learning more about the technological field of Oncology was really fascinating and can really help me to see where in the field I want to pursue my interest. Additionally this week I revised my resume, to include a personal profile instead of an about me section. I separated my mission statement from my personal Bio to give my resume an overall clean effect.
